Evening Classes
Maze Hill Pottery has been running weekly evening classes for the past 30 years, aimed at local and London based people who wish to learn the techniques of studio pottery in a professional working studio environment. We offer excellent facilities and a potter's wheel for each of the 8 students that attend, and full-time professional potters as instructors. We aim to teach you a variety of techniques to help you produce well-made pots. You will be asked to select up to 6 medium sized pots for glazing and firing, which you're able to take home after the course has finished.
The course runs for 6 week terms and costs £300 inc VAT. All materials and firings are included. The next term starts in the final week of April 2025. The classes continue every six weeks, with a weeks break in between.
You can attend one evening a week from the following:
Monday (7:00pm–9:30pm)
Tuesday (7:00pm–9:30pm)
Wednesday (7:00pm–9:30pm)
Thursday (7:00pm–9:30pm)
Get in touch via the contact page if you're interested. As a note, the classes are very busy and returning students have priority, but get in touch and we'll see if we can fit you in.
Booking Terms & Conditions
Unfortunately, we cannot replace, rearrange or refund missed sessions.
Our studio is small, with only 8 wheels (one per student). Our classes are always fully booked so swapping for another day, if a session is missed by a student, is not possible.
We also do cannot accommodate for a friend or family to attend a missed session instead. This is because it does not allow enough time in one session to be able to throw, trim and finish a pot.
In the rare occurrence of a teacher not being able to attend a session, and we are unable to find suitable cover, a full refund will be made for that individual cancelled class.
If you are unable to attend the final sixth session of the course, which is glazing week, this is only time you can swap to another day as glazing does require a wheel.
Once booked onto the course, via email, we can offer a full refund if you give at least 7 days’ notice before the start date of your course. Any later than this we will not have enough time to find another student to take the space.
Masterclasses
We also hold occasional master classes run by internationally renowned ceramicists, previous events have been taught by Ken Matsuzaki, Shozo Michikawa, Jeff Shapiro, Rizu Takahashi, Akiko Hirai and Lisa Hammond. If you'd like information regarding upcoming classes please sign up to my mailing list.
